Eat and Read Book Club
Looking for a book club? The Eat and Read Book Club meets at Northwind Book & Fiber bi-monthly on Saturday afternoons at 2 p.m. The first meeting of the current academic year is October 28th, 2017.
Read and discuss world-renowned works of literature, and, as the name suggests, food is involved! It is potluck style, and with the 2 p.m. meeting time this year, it will be appetizers & snacks rather than a dinner.
The group has been meeting for several years and is led by Jessica Smuda and Heidi Wahlstorm (a bookseller at Northwind). Jessica & Heidi both have degrees in English. New members are always welcome. Each year there is a $5 materials fee.
This year's theme is "Adventuring through the Genres". On October 28th, the group will be reading together The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. (no need to read ahead of the meeting). The meeting will also be the opportunity to discuss the logistices and the book selections.
Below are some of the books tentatively scheduled for the year. The November 11th selection is The Black Cat, which can be found in most Edgar Allen Poe collections. (Almost all are currently in stock, even though says "usually ships in 1 to 5 days")
