Eat and Read Book Club
Looking for a book club? The Eat and Read Book Club meets at Northwind Book & Fiber once a month on a Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
Eat and Read is a literature group that strives to read a variety of books from various time periods and locations. The book club was started in 2011 by Heidi Wahlstrom and Jessica Smuda. Each year a list of works is compiled that the group has expressed interest in or that fit into a reading theme. Previous themes have been World Literature, Original Monster Mash, Science Fiction Literature, Women’s Literature, and Let’s Visit Paris.
New members are always welcome.
This year, the group is Off to Ireland, and the books will be either about Ireland or written by Irish authors. The reading list will be compiled from different genres such as: nonfiction, adventure, classical literature, and romance. The list is below, and at the final month meeting we will discuss Medieval Irish Tales, which can be found on-line here.
For our meetings this year we will be taking precautions due to COVID-19 to keep group members safe. The "Eating" portion of our Eat and Read group will be put on hold and masks will be required while we discuss a variety of books. We will read and discuss Irish poetry at the first meeting which will be on October 16th at 2:00 p.m. in the back of Northwind Book and Fiber. We will meet monthly from October through June. Please contact Heidi (heidi.wahlstrom@gmail.com) for more information or to sign up.
Get ready to get a glimpse of Ireland through great books!
