Winter Reading Challenge with Spooner Memorial Library

Take the Winter Reading Challenge, sponsored by Spooner Memorial Library and Northwind Book & Fiber.  Read books from the list below and enter drawings for $30 gift certificates to the store.  Read 10 of the 21 titles and enter for the Grand Prize $60 certificate.  Reading lists can be picked up at either location.  Slips should be turned in at the library by May 5th, 2022.

Our challenge theme this year is "What is Truth".  As always, we want you to read in all genres and maybe outside of your comfort zone.

We have become so polarized in this country and can't seem to even agree on what is truth.  Our book choices explore truth from many perspectives in both fiction and non-fiction.  In fiction we often see unreliable narrators and different understandings of the same events.  In our non-fiction choices, we hope we are introducing you to history you may not have known or sound perspectives that encourage critical thinking on current events and issues.

U.S. Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan said in 1983: 

"Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts"
